MFT Collaboration with PFS

Hello crafty friends! Today we are having fun with this awesome collaboration with My Favorite Things and Picket Fence Studios. We also have a fabulous Giveaway! Leave comments on each blog post for a chance to win a $50 gift card that each company is given away for their stores.

For this card that I created I used the following products: Caribbean Sea Dye and Butterscotch Dye Inks from MFT. Lots of Christmas Cheers Stamp and Dies,  Slim Line Stitched and Scalloped Rectangles and Alpha Die Cutting System and Mini Slim Line Stitched and Scalloped Rectangles Die Cutting System all from Picket Fence Studios. I also, used Petite Gingham Paper Pad from MFT and Spring Fling Sequin Mix from PFS.

Let’s start! First, I die cut a scalloped panel using the small die from Mini Slim Line Stitched and Scalloped Rectangles Die Cutting System. To create the background I used the smashing technique with the Butterscotch Dye ink and the scalloped panel. Then I let it dry.

Once the panel was dry, I placed the  Slim Line Broken Fence Stencil on top of it and applied Paper Glaze Enhancer for extra texture. When this medium was dry I adhered a note card at the back using glue. Additionally, I die cut a scalloped circle out of one of the Petite Gingham Paper Pad using one of the died from the Slim Line Stitched and Scalloped Rectangles and Alpha Die Cutting System. place the scalloped circle on top of the background.

I stamped one of the images from Lots of Christmas Cheers Stamp, colored it using Copic markers and die cut it with the matching die. I placed the. image on top of the scalloped circle using glue.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment from Fancy Friendship Sentiments Stamp using Caribbean Sea Dye Ink and die cut it with the coordinating die. I added this sentiment to my background along with a few sequins from Spring Fling Sequin Mix and this card was finished.

I really hope you like this card. There’s a video clip over my Instagram showing you how I made this card, in case you want to check it out click here.

In a Twist | Altenew Academy

Happy Friday! For today’s card I have this lovely technique called Faux Embossing with Die Cuts and it’s part of the With A Twist class from Altenew Academy. On this lesson I have learned how to take your products and think different ways to get the more out of them. I have used Cherished Memories Stamp and dies, Be Kind Stamp Set and Nesting Labels Die Set. To add color I used Zig Clean Colors Real Brush Markers.

Let’s begin! I started by stamping the flowers and leaves from Cherished Memories Stamp Set using black ink. I used Bristol Smooth watercolor paper. Next, I colored them with the Zig Clean Colors Real Brush Markers and a fine watercolor brush. I really love how this flowers turned out!

Once I finished coloring I die cut all flowers and leaves using the matching dies from the Cherished Memories Die set. Then, I arranged all elements on top of an A2 folded notecard until I was happy with the placement of each element. I made sure the leaves and flowers were peeking out of the panel and placed evenly around, then I secured each of them with liquid glue.

In addition, I stamped the sentiment from Be Kind Stamp Set onto a colored cardstock that matched the greens and flowers of my background. I used black ink and then I placed one of the dies from Nesting Labels Die Set on top and run this throughout my die cutting machine. Finally, I added to my background using glue and this card was finished. You can take a closer look of the faux embossing look in the last two pictures.

Remember that this technique works great when you have a tone on tone card so you can get that embossed look with the die cuts even if you color the die cuts. Also, you will need the coordinating dies because fussy cutting won’t look so good and definitely you won’t get this Faux Embossing look.

I really love this card and this technique is absolutely relaxing and fun, I hope you give this a try and thank you so much for stopping by.

Beautiful Details | Altenew Academy

Hello friends! Today I’m presenting this card part of my Beautiful Details Class. I’m amazed with this class, it’s absolutely something totally new and different that I have ever tried. This class taught how to go beyond with my stamps and use them in a very creative way that pushed me to go out of my comfort zone. I also must say that Marika Rahtu is way too talented!

Let’s start! Each lesson on this class was amazing but I got captivated with Lesson 1 – Artistic Flowers, where you can use your solid stamps in new ways, using Tombow markers to stamp and then adding more details with a black fine pen, like a multiliner. This way you can stretch up your stamps and get more out of them.

I had no stamps that I thought will work for this technique and I was debating about to ordering a new stamp set, however I didn’t want to wait. So I did an extensive search through all my Altenew products and I find these small stamps, Billowing Blossoms and A Gift for You Stamps, that I kindly received from Altenew as a gift on different holidays, and I thought they were perfect! So I used some images and stamped them trusting my inner artist. This was so pleasant and relaxing.

For some stamps I only colored part of the images and used second and third generation stamping, that way you can get lighter and darker layers while stamping. I used Tambow markers in the shades of grey and one purple.

After finishing stamping and creating this flowers, I used a Black fine pen to add more details and I even outlined some parts of the flowers. There’s no right or wrong way to do this, so I definitely enjoyed the process.

Next, I stamped my sentiment from Beautiful Blossoms stamp set using black ink. Then, I applied Hydrangea ink only to two corners of my panel using a Life Changing Blender Brush. Finally, I trimmed down a little bit my panel and adhered a white folded note card at the back plus some Nuvo Crystals drops.

Before I started stamping I decided to practice a lot bit on a piece of cardstock and when my first card was finished I saw the piece of cardstock where I practiced and I loved it so much that I decided to make a second card out of it.

You definitely have so many possibilities to use your stamps creatively and get the most out of them. I recommend this class to everyone! It’s so therapeutical that you will love it!

Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Mix Media Cards | WOW! Embossing Powder

Hello Friends! Today I’m sharing a little bit of mix media fun with these two cards where I’m using watercolor brush markers, ink sprays, acrylic paint and the wonderful embossing powders by WOW!
For my first card I’m using Vicki Boutin 140 lb. Mix Media Art Paper, which I must say holds lots of water and it works wonderfully!

On my background I used Turquoise, Warm Sunshine and Emerald Watercolor Brush Markers from Altenew. I speeded up the process of drying I applied heat with my WOW! Dual Speed Heat Tool. I love how vibrant these colors are. Next, I sprayed on top Gold Glimmer Metallic from Hero Arts and let the panel dry completely.

I die cut the Lovely Frames Die by Pinkfresh Studio and heat embossed it using WOW! Pop Embossing Powder. I adhered this frame to my watercolor panel and cut the excess. Then, I adhered a white card base at the back.

Finally, I die cut the Hello word die from Essential Classic Words Set Dies by Pinkfresh Studio, heat embossed it with WOW! Metallic Gold Sparkle Em bossing Powder and placed it on top of my background.

For my next card, I applied Autumn Blaze and Crimson Watercolor Brush Markers from Altenew onto my panel moving the color around with water. Then I applied Coral Berry Ink Metallic Shimmer Spray on top and once it was dry I added some splashes of white acrylic paint on top. When my panel dried I adhered a white card base at the back.

I die cut the Lovely Frames die from Pinkfresh Studios and heat embossed it with WOW! Fizz Embossing Powder. I adhered this frame to my watercolor panel and cut the excess. Then, I adhered a white card base at the back.

Lastly, I die cut the Thank You word die from Essential Classic Words Set Dies by Pinkfresh Studio, heat embossed it with WOW! Metallic Silver Sparkle Embossing Powder and placed it on top of my background. Additionally, I die cut two flowers from the Smile With Botanicals Dies by Pinkfresh Studio out of white cardstock.

I really like how these two cards turned out. The pictures doesn’t make justice but in real person the contrast of colors and the embossing powder looks very awesome. Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoy this post. Have a wonderful day!

Irresistible Inking Techniques | Altenew Academy

Hi friends! Today I have this card made for Altenew Academy. On this class, Irresistible Inking Techniques I have learned how to stretch my ink pads. The Altenew inks work as watercolor too so they are an excellent source of coloring. So for my card I will be painting my stamped flowers with ink pads.

Let’s begin! The stamp used in today’s card is called Sweetest Peas Stamp Set and I stamped and heat embossed the flowers using a silver embossing powder, that way the raised edges will hold the watery inks and also will have a fabulous shiny look. I used a fine-tip paintbrush to apply color. The ink pads used in this card are the following: Rouge, Magenta, Forest Glades, Moss, Grape Agate and Sapphire.

I used a craft sheet as a palette for my ink pads, added a bit of water and started applying the colors. I never thought I could get such a gorgeous look by using ink pads. I’m absolutely in love with how this card turned out and I will be using more and more my ink pads from now on.

Finally, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from the same stamp set using silver embossing powder over a black cardstock, added a few embellishments around and my card for this class was finished. I love the tricks and tips I learned on this class about stretching you ink pads. I will definitely be making more cards using this technique. Hope you like my card and have a phenomenal day!

I’m back with the Altenew Academy classes and today I’m sharing this card that I made for the Seasonal Scene Building class where I learned great tips for building scenes and maximize my stamps. For this card I will be masking the images using a post it, that way I could have many elements but keeping my card flat, and I loved the final result! Also, I found out about great Copic color combinations with Nichol Magouirk.
